Controller for the Swedish Armed Forces

Are you interested in working as a controller within one of Sweden's largest authorities? Do you have experience in analysis and follow-up of complex financial issues? If so, we have a position for you – together we create financial decision support for the highest leadership of the Swedish Armed Forces.

About the Department

The Defense Staff supports the Armed Forces leadership in handling and preparing incoming matters, questions, and tasks, and ensures that the decided activities are carried out and reported back. The Finance Department has overall responsibility for all finances in a growing organization. About 40 employees with various competencies and areas of expertise work here.

The Controlling Section of the Finance Department is now recruiting a Controller who will work with infrastructure and defense facilities as well as exercises and host nation support.

Main Responsibilities

A large part of the work as a controller involves planning, follow-up, and analysis of the Armed Forces' finances. This includes analyzing the current plan, order status, and forecasts. The work is primarily done at an aggregated level, but there are times when it is necessary to dive into details.

You will also conduct analyses to assess how different scenarios and assumptions impact finances from various perspectives, develop decision support and guidelines within the subject area, and contribute knowledge in development and methodological issues. The role also includes investigative tasks and active problem-solving with both short- and long-term foresight.

You have a broad network where you regularly communicate with responsible parties in the organization and also provide training in your area.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in economics or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Current and relevant experience in budgeting, forecasting, and analytical work from complex organizations
  • Very good analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Good knowledge of Office365

Personal Qualities

The work requires good analytical skills and the ability to understand occasionally complex material. You handle periods of high workload and tight deadlines without compromising quality. To succeed in the role, you need to be unpretentious and a good team player, while also having the ability to independently drive issues. You are clear and communicative and can express your opinions clearly.

You work carefully and structured, complete what you have started, and meet deadlines. The work requires you to be analytical, seeing logic and connections in complex information.

In the selection process, great importance will be placed on personal suitability and achieved results in previous areas of activity.

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience working in the finance function of the Armed Forces or another defense authority
  • Experience working with finance at another authority or the Government Offices
  • Experience working with finance related to the EU or other international collaborations
  • Experience working on large projects spanning several years
  • Knowledge of SAP
